Under the Wave off Kanagawa, universally known as The Great Wave, is among the most recognized works of art ever created. Produced by the Japanese master Katsushika Hokusai around 1830–32, this iconic woodblock print belongs to his celebrated series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, a landmark achievement in ukiyo-e — the Japanese tradition of depicting the "floating world."

The composition captures a towering ocean wave frozen at the moment before it crashes, its claw-like foam fingers reaching toward three oshiokuri fishing boats battling the turbulent sea. In the distance, the serene and eternal Mount Fuji appears dwarfed by nature's raw power — a deliberate juxtaposition of the transient and the permanent. Hokusai employed the newly imported Prussian blue pigment to achieve the print's extraordinary depth and luminosity, a technique that was revolutionary for its time.

The work had a profound influence on Western Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists, including Monet and Van Gogh, bridging the artistic traditions of East and West. This museum-quality stretched canvas reproduction brings Hokusai's masterpiece into your space with exceptional fidelity, printed on premium matte canvas and presented with a classic 0.75" gallery wrap — ready to hang and built to last.
